A STATISTICAL OBSERVATION ON FRACTURES

Abstract
|
|
|
We have observed consecutive cases of fracture of the truck and extremities treated at Soo-Do medical college Hospital from November 1960 to October 1963 for the period of 35 bmonths.
Total number of fractures treated during the period amounted 569 which was equivalent to 22.3% of total orthopedic cases seen during the same period.
Observation was made according to the kind of hospital care, sec and age differecne, number of visit ot bone setter, complication, causative factors, involved lisions, treatment and their results.
Fracture of the lewor leg ranked first in its order of frequency.
Traffic accident was the major cause of fractures i.c., 42 precent.
In the treatment, 403 cases(74.7%) were treated conservatively while the remaining 137 cases (25.3%) treated operatively. 508 cases(94.1%) had complete cure, delayed union occurred in 21 cases, non-union in 4 cases and post operative infection in 7 cases
